Archaeology Research Stipends
The CBA will award three $3,000 stipends for archaeological research, renewable for a
second season.
The conditions for application are as follows:
- Applicants must be active or associate members of the CBA, and may be either
full-time students working toward the doctorate (or S.S.L.) in biblical studies or related
areas or have received the doctorate (or S.S.L.) in these areas.
- They must have been accepted, at least provisionally, for a specific, high quality
dig and be without means to finance their participation.
- They must submit a description of the area of inquiry they intend to pursue in
conjunction with the dig or at least a description of what they expect to learn.
- They must submit names of two professors who will write in support of their
application.
- Those who receive awards will be expected to report to the Chair of the
Archaeology Committee on their participation by January 1 after their field experience.
Materials submitted will be evaluated by the CBA Archaeology Committee
(William J. Fulco, Steven L. McKenzie, Marilyn McNamara Schaub, Donald J. Rappe, Richard J. Sklba, and Michael Weigl).
The application deadline for Archaeology Stipends is February 15. Preference will be
shown to actual or prospective CBA members. Application forms for Archaeology
